I’m Cecilia, a planting consultant, craft gardener and lecturer who is passionate about sharing sustainable solutions, learning from others and teaching the next generation of gardeners with information that is up to date, with a focus on our responsibility to the land and creatures we live with. My practice is peat-free, vegan with the ethos to leave a space filled with more life rather than less.
My previous career was as an installation artist so I am determined that I all of my designs, the result is beautiful and thoughtful. As an artist and visual merchandiser gave me an understanding, a language, a foundation that has meant increasing involvement in planting Flower Shows and Show gardens. These include RHS Chelsea, RHS Hampton Court, RHS Badminton, RHS Sandringham, Gardeners World and Chaumont-Sur-Loire Festival.
This year I’ve been the Planting Consultant on the Nocturnal Garden at RHS Chelsea for Melanie Hick and the Bat Conservation Trust delivering a palette of plants that will encourage the insects to a garden for Bats to feed from.
In 2025 for Ryan McMahon, the Seawilding Garden involved going to Ardfern to see the charity at work whilst being within a new landscape, learning what grows natively and how these plants knit together to reimagine at the show garden. This garden then led to our invite to Garden Gathering in Suzhou, China to talk about community and Show gardens this April.
On the day to day, you’ll find me either looking after and developing private gardens, teaching practical horticulture or working for Kings College Cambridge.
